University of Houston Athletics Credentials Accreditation Guidelines
CREDENTIALS
All requests for working press, radio, television, photography or scouting credentials should be made online at UHCougars.com/credentials AT LEAST ONE WEEK PRIOR TO A GAME. Seating in the press box or other designated media areas are for working media and scouts only.
All space for the working press, radio and television is allocated by the Houston Athletics Communications Office, which reserves the right to deny credentials to any outlet. Spouses, dates, children, equipment carriers and non-workers are restricted from receiving credentials.Â
Any abuse of a working credential will result in the media agency losing credential privileges. Freelance and/or non-daily writers may be asked to produce copies of actual publications in which their work has appeared. Admission to the press box is by credential only.
ACCREDITATION GUIDELINES
• Only full-time, salaried employees intending to provide actual game coverage may receive credentials.
• A requesting media agency must represent a collective, organizational editorial voice, not simply the offerings of a single individual. • Membership in a writers’ association does not automatically qualify an agency for credentials.
• Credentials will not be granted to any online agency operating sites that are in any way affiliated with gambling.
• Previous year’s receipt of Houston Athletics credentials and/or credential requests granted by other Houston sports teams do not guarantee granting of 2026-27 Houston Athletics credentials.
• Online entities or independent podcasts not associated with a traditional media agency are not guaranteed media access or credentials but are encouraged to utilize resources provided at UHCougars.com to obtain notes, quotes, statistics and other UH Athletics information. An online entity or independent podcast not associated with a traditional media agency may qualify for one credential, subject to the following conditions:
   1. Online entity has an established, long standing history of coverage and attendance at UH Athletics events, including games and media availabilities, and has a record of credible coverage through original content while upholding professional behavior towards media outlets and other schools.
   2. Online entities that focus primarily on University of Houston Athletics and sponsor message boards or chat rooms, may receive credentials provided they adhere to a policy that requires that a posted message or opinion is identified with the actual name and city of the individual posting the message.
   3. Any online service that is recognized as an outlet intended primarily for the purpose of delivering news related to the recruitment of student-athletes will not qualify for credentials.
   4. Online entities (other than those identified above) registering 50,000 legitimate unique users per month in each of the past 12 months will be given first consideration.
   5. Online entity may receive a credential only if its own full-time staff writes a majority of that site’s material.
