NEW ORLEANS (AP) _ George Williams had 22 points and Patrick Okafor Alton Ford 16 each as
Houston beat Tulane 81-76 Wednesday night.
Houston (7-18, 4-9 in Conference USA) took a 43-34 halftime lead, but the Green Wave pulled to 77-76 with 54 seconds left.
But Dominic Smith hit a pair of foul shots for Houston, Brandon Spann missed a 3-point shot that would have tied the game for Tulane, and Marcus Oliver hit another two free throws for Houston.
Houston shot 65.4 percent from the field in the first half and 58.3 overall. Tulane shot 46.2 percent overall and hit only 11 of 24 foul shots, while Houston hit 23 of 32.
