LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Nov. 14) -- For the second time in as many matches, the University of Houston women's volleyball team was defeated in a match by the score of three games to none. The Cougars fell to Conference USA rival Louisville by the scores of 15-3, 15-13, 15-6 Sunday afternoon at UL's Cardinal Arena and the teams now have identical 13-3 records in C-USA play. Pending the outcome of Sunday's South Florida match at Cincinnati, as many as three teams could be tied for the C-USA lead with 13-3 records and in contention for the No. 1 seed for the C-USA Tournament next week. Houston entered the weekend needing only one win in a pair of matches to clinch the No. 1 seed, but the Cougars were swept three games to none by Louisville and Cincinnati.
Led by freshman outside hitter Sinja Percan's 23 kills and .400 hitting percentage, Louisville outhit Houston .279 to .063. The Cougars were led by junior Stephanie Heiskell's 10 kills.
The Cougars will next be in action at the C-USA Tournament in Tampa, Florida, from Nov. 19-21. The pairings for the bracket will be announced by the league office on Monday, Nov. 15.
