Houston Takes One from USF in Volleyball, 3-1

TAMPA, Fla. (Oct. 21) - The University of South Florida volleyball team (9-12, 4-6) lost to the Houston Cougars (14-6, 9-1), 3-1 (15-12, 9-15, 9-15, 9-15) in the Corral on Thursday, October, 21.
In the match Houston out hit the Bulls, .216 to .160.
The Cougars also doubled USF in the number of team blocks, 14 to 7.
For USF, senior Lori Gribben recorded 18 kills and 18 digs. While freshman Maryann Mooney registered 13 kills and 20 digs. Junior Melanie Mueller's 61 assists were two shy of her career high (63).
Houston's Jillian King was one block away from a triple-double. King recorded 17 kills, 11 digs and nine total blocks. Two Cougars notched 20+ digs in the match, Kristin Guidish (25) and Morgan Wallen (21).
