Frazier Posts 18 Kills, 12 Digs & 9 Blocks
Houston, TX (September 16) - Four different Houston hitters spiked double-figure kills to hold off National Division rival South Florida and secure a 3-1 win in the Conference USA opener for both teams Thursday night in Hofheinz Pavilion.Junior middle blocker Michelle Frazier hit for a .385 percentage with 18 kills, 12 defensive digs and nine blocks to pace the Cougars to a hard-fought 18-16, 15-7, 6-15, 15-8 C-USA win. Senior Kristin Guidish meanwhile added a season-high 14 kills and 17 digs in a victory that snapped a four-match UH losing streak. Houston improved to 4-5 on the year and 1-0 in C-USA play.
South Florida senior outside hitter Lori Gribben led all players in the match with 26 kills and 16 digs. Junior middle Rachelle Paul posted 19 kills and 18 digs as the Bulls fell to 3-5 overall and 0-1 in the league.
The Bulls will next take on SEC power Auburn in Hofheinz Pavilion at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 16. The Cougars will then meet Auburn on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
