Houston Volleyball Team Defeats LSU 3-1

On Saturday, September 4, the University of Houston volleyball team hung on for a three-games to one win over LSU and clinch the tournament title of the Crowne Plaza Medical Center Houston Invitational in Hofheinz Pavilion.
After winning the first two games, including a hard-fought 19-17 decision in game one, The Cougars took a commanding 13-3 lead in game three. The Tigers however fought all the way back and forced a fourth game with a 16-14 victory. In game four the two slugged it out to a 13-13 score before Houston pulled away with the final two points for a 15-13 decision.
With its third win in a row, UH improved to 3-1. LSU fell to 1-3. The Cougars were led in the match by Jillian King's career-high 24 kills, 15 defensive digs and seven blocks.
Houston will next face three nationally ranked teams including BYU, Ohio State and Loyola Marymount at the LMU Invitational Tournament in Los Angeles on Friday and Saturday, September 10-11.
