Women's Tennis Defeated by SMU in Season Ending Match

HOUSTON, Texas (April 8) - The University of Houston women's tennis team lost its final match of the season 5-1 against SMU on Saturday morning in Houston, Texas. The Cougars end their regular season campaign with an 8-12 record under first year tennis coach, Jennifer Hyde.

The Mustangs proved to be too much for the Cougars stealing five of the six singles matches on Houston's home court. UH's sole victory came at the number five spot as Kailey Meisinger defeated Sara Love Swaney 7-5, 6-3. There were no doubles matches played.

Today also marked career ending matches for seniors Galina Seliounina and Mette Sigmundstad who led Houston in doubles play at the number one position throughout the season. Together they compiled a 14-3 record as a duo.

The Cougars now head to the Conference USA Championships, which will be held on April 13-16 in Tampa, Florida.
