UH Head Coach Kim Helton -- We had two weeks to prepare fo the wishbone. We spent a lot of time with the offensive football team trying to run a wishbone with our best players. We normally have inside runs for the offense, we gave it all to the defense. Some of the individuals obviously that were outstanding was just the simple coverage. The kids a good thrower. We had a lot of pressure on him, but he's a very good thrower. Very competitive player. I thought the man coverage that we played was outstanding. We went out and got 'em. We said back a year ago and we played against Army and sat back and waited for them to make a mistake. Tonight we went out and got 'em. I think they stopped a fine Rice football team. I really do. I think Rice is a really solid offensive football team with a lot of talent outside. I don't think for one minute that we're not a good defensive football team. I think that the new guys and Nikia Adderson was dominate inside. Will Pettis we're all said had a world of talent. Very impressed with the play of the linebackers. Rice ganged up on us on defense and they should of. They knew we were going to try to hand the ball to Ket and them.
Mike James (Sr, Safety) -- Defensive player of the game -- I wan't looking for any kind of awards, The season is on my mind right now and I'm looking forward to going to a bowl game.
Ahmad Charles (Sr, DE) -- The defense and the offense did great, we came out hard wanting to take control early and I think we did that. Now I think we are ready to contend for a championship this year.
Orlando Iglesias (Jr, WR) -- I feel honored to be named the offensive player of the game and this is just the first step to a championship. We just need to take this one step at a time, go to Alabama and prove that we can win the big ballgames.
