Owens has been Houston's top offensive performer with 18.0 points per game and has led the Cougars in scoring nine times this season as well as being the leading rebounder twice. He has also picked up a team high 27 steals. His 18 points per game a second best in C-USA and he ranks ninth in the conference in steals per game (1.8). Ranked second among Houston's team scoring leaders and 18th among Conference USA scoring leaders with 13.9 points per game. Sat out the 2001-02 season after transferring from the University of Indiana. Played his freshman year at Indiana before transferring to the University of Houston. The son of Susan E. Cohen and Leroy Owens, he was born October 31, 1980 in Indianapolis, Ind. Owens was recruited by Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State and Cincinnati out of high school and is now a sports management major at Houston.
