In his 11th year at the University of Houston, James Nicas begins his seventh season as Assistant Athletics Director for Development in 2009-10.
Nicas oversees the recruitment of new Cougar Pride members and coordination of special events, including the Dominique Sachse Celebrity Golf Classic. He is also in charge of the Wheels Club that provides courtesy vehicles to UH coaches and staff and is the administrative liaison to the soccer program.
Prior to his current post, Nicas held a dual roll as Special Events and Marketing Coordinator, where he organized student initiatives and marketing activities for men's basketball. He originally came to UH in August 2000 as an intern in the Athletic Marketing Office.
Nicas joined the UH Athletics Department after spending one year as a graduate assistant in the Athletics Development Office at Wichita State, where he earned a master's of education degree in sports administration in 2001.
An Omaha, Neb., native, Nicas received his bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis on marketing and management from the University of Nebraska in 1998.
He is a member of the National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD).
Nicas and his wife, Jenny, live in Humble with their daughter, Kaylee.
