John Houston enters his 12th season as the associate athletics trainer at the University of Houston, where he overseas all post-operative rehabilitation. His primary team coverage is with men's basketball in which he coordinates team travel. John also assists in sports medicine coverage with all other sports teams.
Houston returned to the state of Texas after serving three years as the assistant trainer at Marshall University in Huntington, W. Va.
A native of Fritch, Texas, Houston graduated from Sandford-Fritch High School in 1986, and earned his undergraduate degree at Texas Tech University in 1991. He received his Master's degree from the University of Kentucky in 1994, where he was a graduate assistant trainer.
He is married to the former Amie Winn of Lexington, Ky., and the couple have one son, Trey.
