Bryan Paar joined the University of Houston Department of athletics as assistant athletics director for game operations and event management in July 2016.
He will oversee game operations and event management staff at all Houston Athletics events.
Paar, who is a native of Olean, N.Y., joined the Cougars after spending the previous three years at Florida State as assistant director of events and facilities. There, he was responsible for all facility maintenance and event logistics with long-range planning and potential improvements for Dick Howser Stadium and Tully Gymnasium and had oversight of fall NCAA/ACC postseason championships.
He also worked closely with football administrators for daily facility operations at Doak Campbell Stadium.
Prior to FSU, Paar rose through the ranks at Coastal Carolina. He began his professional career as assistant athletic events director in 2006 and was elevated to athletic events and facility director in 2008 before being promoted to assistant athletics director for facilities and operations in 2010.
During his Coastal Carolina tenure, Paar worked as facilities and events director for several postseason events, including the 2011 and 2012 Men’s Soccer NCAA Tournament First Round, 2008 and 2010 NCAA Baseball Regionals, 2010 NCAA Baseball Super Regionals, 2011 Big South Men’s Basketball Championship and the 2010 NCAA FCS First-Round Playoffs.
Paar received his bachelor’s degree in sport management with a minor in economics and management from State University of New York College at Cortland in 2006. As an undergraduate, he was named to the Dean’s List three times.
He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in higher education from Florida State.
