Amanda Barbee joined the University of Houston Department of Athletics in June 2012 as assistant athletics trainer.
In that role, she work closely with Houston Women’s Basketball and Women’s Golf, supervising the evaluation of injuries, oversight of treatment and rehabilitation programs, coordination of physician care and scheduling of preseason physical examinations. She also oversees the women's softball. In addition to her other duties, Barbee recruits the undergraduate athletic training students.
During her graduate assistantship at University of Houston, she spent two years working for the Women's Soccer team while she earned her master's degree in sports and fitness administration in December 2011.
A New Orleans native, Barbee graduated from LSU with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology with a concentration in athletic training. As an undergraduate for the Tigers, she worked with LSU's 2007 National Champion Football team, nationally ranked Women's Basketball team and the 2009 SEC champion Women's Volleyball team.
Before attending LSU, Barbee was a student-athlete at Belhaven College in Jackson, Miss., where she played basketball for two years.
Barbee is a nationally certified athletics trainer and licensed athletics trainer in the state of Texas and a member of the National Athletics Training Association.
