Spots Still Available for Bayou Bucket Shootout
Aug. 1, 2001
As a prelude to the annual Southwestern Bell Bayou Bucket clash, the first annual Bayou Bucket Shootout will take place on Friday, August 31, at the Sienna Plantation Golf Course in Missouri City.
Both Houston and Rice will be represented by 36 two-person teams, and each team will be paired with and compete against an opposition's two-man team. The play will be match play for each foursome with the best ball for each two-man team on each hole to determine the winner of each hole, which is the Ryder Cup format.
If a two-person team wins its 18-hole match, then it receives one point for its school. If a two-person team ties its match, that tie is worth 1/2 point. Whichever school wins the most points is the winner and will be awarded a traveling trophy for one year.
Spots are still available at $150.00 per person, and the entry deadline is August 17. The Touchdown Club of Houston is the tournament organizer, and all proceeds from the tournament will go to the club's Inner-City Weight Room Refurbishing Fund to upgrade area high school weight and locker rooms, as well as the club's Scholarship Fund.
