The University of Houston Department of Athletics announced future non-conference Football series with Utah and Rice.

Houston will kick off its series against Pac-12 foe Utah with its 2026 season opener, hosting the Utes at TDECU Stadium on Sept. 5, 2026 ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ UH will make a return trip to Salt Lake City on Sept. 11, 2027 ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ The two teams have previously met four times with Houston owning a 4-0 record in the series, the last meeting a 42-25 Houston win on Sept. 23, 1978 ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ In addition to the Utah series, Houston and Rice have added two games to their longtime crosstown rivalry with a Sept. 24, 2022, game at Houston and a Sept. 9, 2023, game at Rice ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ The two games are in addition to three previously announced games -- this year's season opener on Sept. 1 at Rice, Sept. 5, 2020 at Houston and Sept. 11, 2021 at Rice ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ The two Houston institutions have met 41 times with Houston owning a 30-11 record, including a 38-3 home win in 2017 ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ In addition to the two series, Houston added a fourth game to its UTSA series with a Aug. 30, 2025, game in Houston following two games in San Antonio (Sept. 3, 2022 & Aug. 31, 2024) and another game in Houston (Sept. 2, 2023) ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ With the two Rice games added, the 2022 and 2023 Houston non-conference schedules are complete with the Cougars hosting Kansas and Rice in 2022 while traveling to UTSA and Texas Tech ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ In 2023, UH hosts BYU and UTSA while traveling to Kansas and Rice ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver was named to the Watch List for the 2018 Lott IMPACT Trophy ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ The reigning Outland Trophy winner, Oliver was a consensus All-American in his sophomore season and has totaled 39.5 tackles for loss through his freshman and sophomore seasons, a number that leads all defensive tackles in NCAA history and ranks second among all positions in that time frame ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ He leads all active players nationally with a career average of 1.56 tackles for loss per game and is Houston's leading returning tackler after totaling 73 stops in 2017 ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ The Houston native has 139 tackles through two years while playing the nose spot in a three-man front ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ His 73 tackles last season came in 12 games despite missing three quarters of one game and being limited in the next four with a knee injury ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ This marks the second straight year for Oliver to be named to the Watch List and the third straight year for a Houston student-athlete to be named to the watch list as Cameron Malveaux, now a member of the Miami Dolphins, earned the distinction in 2016 ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ Houston fans looking to join the #HTownTakeover and become new season ticket holders can do so now with new season tickets now available for purchase at UHCougars.com/tickets ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ 2018 season tickets for the six-game home slate start as low as $100 with any seat not sold to season ticket holders in 2017 available for purchase ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ A full map of the 2018 season ticket price breakdown can be found at UHCougars.com/map ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ The 2018 Major Applewhite Golf Tournament will take place on Monday, June 18, at the Wildcat Golf Club ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ The event, which benefits the Houston Football restricted fund, is set for a 12 p.m. shotgun start with registration and lunch opening at 10:30 a.m. ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ For more information, click here.

Houston Men's Golf senior Michael Perras earned a place on the 2018 PING All-Central Region Team for the second time during his career ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ A four year letterman, Perras led the Cougars with a 71.03 average, 25 rounds of par or better, including nine in the 60s and six Top-10 finishes ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ He was named to the All-American Athletic Conference Team for the third straight season in April and was recognized as the league's Golfer of the Week in mid-April ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ Perras, who hails from Deer Park, Texas, was selected to compete as an individual at the NCAA Bryan Regional earlier this month, becoming only the 17th player in program history to compete in 3+ NCAA Regionals during his career ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ He finished his career among the Cougars' Top-10 career leaders in stroke average (72.13), strokes (10,675) and rounds played (148).
WOMEN'S GOLF

Following a record-setting season, Houston Women's Golf junior Leonie Harm was named All-America Honorable Mention by the Women's Golf Coaches Association ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ Harm became the first Cougar to earn All-America honors during her career ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ Earlier this month, she competed in the NCAA Championships for the second time in her career ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ The Gerlingen, Germany, native became the first Cougar to compete at the nation's premier collegiate event in 2016.
TRACK & FIELD

Houston Track & Field qualified 11 athletes in 13 events and two relays at the NCAA West Regionals.

Qualifying for the Cougars was Samiyah Samuels in the long jump, Mario Burke, Cameron Burrell and Elijah Hall 100-meter dash, Brianne Bethel 100- and 200-meter dash, Nicholas Alexander in the 200-meter dash, Kahmari Montgomery in the 400-meter dash, Brian Barraza in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Amere Lattin in the 110- and 400-meter hurdles, Bureaus Hawkins in the 400-meter hurdles, Nate Mechler in the decathlon as well as the men's 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ At the NCAA West Regionals, Lattin broke the Houston 400-meter hurdle record on back-to-back days ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ Lattin ran 49.71 in the First Round and then followed with a 49.70 in the Quarterfinals ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ Barazza broke the Cougars' 3,000-meter steeplechase record in 8:41.49 ÃÆ'À '¢ÃƒÆ’Æ'¢'¬¦ For complete results, click here.
