Women’s Golf in Third after First Day at Lady Luck Invitational

Junior Maelynn Kim tied for fourth at 145; Teammates Moa Svedenskiöld, Natalie Saint Germain join her among Top-25 leaders
LAS VEGAS – University of Houston Maelynn Kim posted a 36-hole score of 145 to tie for fourth and lead the Cougars following the first day of the Lady Luck Invitational at Las Vegas Country Club on Monday evening.
As a team, the 30th-ranked Cougars finished the first 36 holes with a score of 594 to stand in third on the 6,592-yard, par-72 course.Senior Moa Svedenskiöld rebounded from a 77 in the morning to shoot even-par 72 in the afternoon and was tied for 19th at 149. Senior Natalie Saint Germain opened the tournament with a 71, thanks to three birdies and was tied for 21st at 150.
Senior Alexa Saldaña was tied for 30th at 153, and junior Ellen Yates was tied for 44th at 156.
#16 UCF held the first-day lead at 584 to finish four strokes ahead of #30 Kent State. Host UNLV (596), #49 Oregon State (598), Northern Arizona (606), #28 Oklahoma State (606), #19 Baylor (609), UTSA (611) and New Mexico (614) rounded out the Top-10 leaders.
UNLV's Foong Zi Yu was the only student-athlete to finish under par at 140 and held a four-stroke lead over Grace Quintanilla (Texas State) and Veronika Kedronova (Kent State). Maria Jose Barragan (BYU) and Pimpisa Sisutham (UCF) joined Kim at 145.

TEE TIMES
For Tuesday's Final Round , the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from UCF and Kent State beginning at 10:30 a.m. (CST).
Svedenskiöld begins the day in the first group off No. 1 with Kim (second group off No. 1), Saldana (first group off No. 2), Saint Germain (second group off No. 2) and Yates (No. 3) following.
