Cougars Battle Wind in Humble

Houston battles wind advisory on All-American Intercollegiate first day
HUMBLE, Texas – The Houston Men's Golf Team, along with the other 14 teams in the field, battled a high-wind advisory with gusts up to 50 mph and steady winds over 20 mph on Monday during the first two rounds of the All-American Intercollegiate at the Golf Club of Houston.
Every team in the field shot 20+ over par during the first two rounds, highlighting the extremely difficult playing conditions on the day.
Following rounds of 78 over 7,422 yards on the par 72 course and 77, respectively junior Chi Chun Chen paced the Cougars on Day 1 and sits in 24th entering Tuesday's final round.
Houston made 11 birdies on the day.
In the All-American Intercollegiate Individual event, redshirt senior Bryant Hiskey finished the day fourth overall shooting eight-over par and seven strokes back of the leader. Redshirt freshman Dominic Green, making his collegiate debut, on his birthday too, tied for eighth following the first two rounds while freshman Jayk Altic (tied for 13th) rounded out the top 15.

For Tuesday's action, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from Nebraska, Texas State and UT Arlington.
Chi Chun Chen begins the day in the first group off No. 14 with Grant Doggett on No. 15, and Hudson Weibel (No. 16), Hsuan-Yi Chen (No. 17) and Kevin An (No.18) following.

Following the All-American Intercollegiate, Houston will play host to the Valspar Collegiate Invitational at Floridian National Golf Club on March 23-24. The event features one of the nation's top collegiate fields every year.
From there, the Cougars tee off at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga., on April 4-5.
Houston closes the regular season at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate at Finley Golf Club in Chapel Hill, N.C., on April 11-12.
