HOUSTON – Dotson, who was a two-time All-Academic selection in the American Athletic Conference, was a part of five winning seasons for the Cougars from 2014-18 and recorded his first-career tackle as a senior in a win over Tulane in 2018.
"We are thrilled to welcome Khari back to Houston as our Director of Student-Athlete Development," Associate Athletics Director for Academic Services Tatjana Banjeglav said. "As a former Cougar, Khari understands firsthand what it means to represent this university and compete at a high level. His passion for holistic student-athlete growth, combined with his professional experience and commitment to preparing our student-athletes for life beyond athletics, makes him an outstanding addition to our department. We are excited for the impact he will have on our student-athletes and the Houston community."
Dotson will lead the Student-Athlete Development department where he will build and oversee the professional, personal, leadership development programming for the Houston student-athlete population. He will also oversee community engagement initiatives for Houston Athletics, and create and implement opportunities for the Student-Athletes to engage and serve within the Houston community.
A co-founder of Life Beyond Athletics in 2021, Dotson has helped athletes plan, prepare, and transition into a life beyond athletics, which transitions seamlessly to his role as Director of Student-Athlete Development.
In addition to his work with Life Beyond Athletics, Dotson worked as a consultant for Van Hoozer and Associates and as a law clerk at Sanford Kuhl Hagan Kugle Parker Kahn LLP.
Dotson graduated from Houston in 2017 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing.
He and his wife Hallee welcomed their first child in January.
