Field Squad Earns Three Victories on Thursday

Cougars secure wins in men’s discus, women’s and men’s high jump
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Track & Field program recorded three victories on the first day of the Cameron Burrell Invitational at the Carl Lewis International Complex on Thursday.
Friday meet action will begin at 10 a.m., with field events followed by running events at noon. The senior class will be recognized at 2:55 p.m.
Freshman Demaris Eberle claimed her first collegiate victory in the women's high jump as she cleared 1.60m. Junior Ali Mack followed in second with a clearance of 1.55m.
In the women's pole vault, freshman Evina Panagiotou earned second place at 4.15m while freshman Kaylee Daniel secured third with a mark of 4.00m.
Senior Grant Levesque placed third in the men's pole vault and added his name to the Houston record books, tying for 10th all-time in program history at 5.20m.
The men's high jump squad swept the event as sophomore Antrea Mita collected the victory with a mark of 2.20m, followed by junior Turey Stoudemire's at 2.10m and senior My'Kell Beck's mark of 2.05m.
Senior Kevin Grubbs powered a throw of 57.29m to collect the victory in the men's discus. Sophomore Cordell Nwokeji notched a new personal best of 52.38m for third place.
Freshman Tirea Reed earned second in the women's discus at 48.84m.
