
Women’s Golf Rises to Third at Florida State Match Up

Natalie Saint Germain Alexa Saldana each fire 71s to lead Cougars in Second Round
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The University of Houston Women's Golf program bettered its first-day score by 13 strokes with the second-lowest team total of the day to rise to third place following the Second Round of the Florida State Match Up on Saturday afternoon.
Competing on the 6,250-yard, par-72 course at Seminole Legacy Golf Club, the Cougars posted a team total of 291 for a 36-hole total of 595.
Juniors Alexa Saldana and Natalie Saint Germain each fired 71s to lead the Cougars on Saturday.
Starting off No. 1, Saint Germain quickly moved into red numbers with a birdie on her first hole and added additional birdies at No. 7 and No. 14 to move into a tie for sixth at 146.
Saldana overcame two birdies in a three-hole stretch early in her round to drain a pair of birdies on the last three holes of her first nine and moved into a tie for 15th at 148.
Sophomore Maelynn Kim and junior Hyeonji Kang were tied for 24th at 151 while junior Moa Svedenskiold was tied for 34th at 153.
Florida State's Mirabel Ting held the individual lead at 133 while teammate Kaylah Williams was second at 144. Kent State's Veronika Kedronova and Illinois teammates Victoria Zheng and Lexanne Halama were for third at 145 while Carolina Smith (Indiana), Lottie Woad (Florida State, Madison Dabagia (Indiana) and Kaitlyn Schoreder (North Florida) joined Saint Germain at 146
Host Florida State held the team lead with a score of 573 while Illinois was in second at 586. Alabama (598), Kent State (598), Indiana (598), Missouri (607), North Florida (608), Chattanooga (611)and Troy (618) completed the Top 10.
The tournament concludes with the Final Round on Sunday morning.
