Personal Bests, Top 10 Times Highlight Final Day at First Chance Meet

Two more Cougars earn Top 10 marks, five set personal bests Saturday inside CRWC Natatorium
HOUSTON – Two University of Houston Swimming & Diving student-athletes achieved Top 10 marks, and five Cougars captured personal bests against competitors from Rice and TCU on the last day of the First Chance Meet inside CRWC Natatorium on Saturday.
Junior Noor El Gendy claimed one of Houston's top spots, clocking in at 1:56.08 in the 200 butterfly for the second-fastest time in program history.
Sophomore Sydney Nethercutt achieved another record on Day 2 with a 16:34.87 in the 1,650-yard freestyle for the fifth fastest in program history.
In the 200-yard butterfly, sophomore Megan Unruh secured a personal best time of 2:05.08 while freshman Regina Torres Pomar captured her personal best time of 2:00.49 on the 200-yard backstroke.
In the 1,650-yard freestyle, junior Gigi Caston and freshman Kaeli White made their mark with individual bests of 17:11.93 and 16:45.79, respectively.
Freshman Sienna Bruner swam a personal best on the 100-yard freestyle with a 50.58 time.
The Cougars return to action when they head to Federal Way, Wash., for the Big 12 Swimming & Diving Championship, set for Feb. 25-March 1 inside Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.
