Cougars Return to CFP Rankings at #21

Houston jumps to #21 in College Football Playoff ranking
HOUSTON – Following its sixth road win of the season, a 31-24 win at Baylor on Saturday, and a 9-3 regular season, the Houston Football team returned to the College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday, jumping to #21.
Houston has posted the best single-season turnaround among Power 4 conference teams, winning five more games in 2025 than a year ago.
The Cougars have orchestrated the turnaround behind George Munger Coach of the Year Semifinalist Head Coach Willie Fritz who led Houston to its best record since 2021.
Houston's 9-3 record is the best record in the last three years by a former American Athletic Conference school since the trio joined the Big 12 Conference.
The Cougars 6-3 record in league play is tied for fourth with Houston holding the tiebreaker over #18 Arizona whom Houston beat 31-28 at home earlier this season.
