HOUSTON – University of Houston Athletics welcomes back Allison Franklin as a Psychological Counselor following a year as a Case Manager in the Athletics Mental Health and Wellness Services department.
While completing her master's degree in social work at the University of Michigan, Franklin worked closely with Director of Mental Health Services Dr. Emmett Gill to provide individual counseling to student-athletes, conduct mental health presentations to the athletics programs and coordinated a directory and presentation with outside providers to enhance the Student-Athlete Mental Health and Wellness department.
Before moving into the mental health and wellness space, Franklin worked in performance nutrition at both Michigan (July 2022-March 2024) and Houston (Jan. 2016-Jan. 2018). She also served as a Gatorade Intern at Alabama while pursuing her master's degree in human nutrition in Tuscaloosa.
Franklin graduated from Alabama with a pair of bachelor's degrees in human environmental sciences and arts and sciences.
