
Cox, Patterson Lead Houston at Texas A&M Invitational

Six collegiate personal bests set on Friday
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – For a second consecutive meet, fifth-year Branch Cox led the University of Houston men's cross country team to a third-place team finish and freshman Cadence Patterson led the women's squad to seventh at the Texas A&M Invitational on Friday morning.
Cox recorded a personal best time in the 8k as he crossed the finish line in fourth place at 23:41.7. Junior Miles Cox finished in 12th place where he also ran a personal best time of 23:53.2.
Three more personal bests were set by sophomore Aaron Crittenden (20th, 24:07.8), junior Benym Fantue (33rd, 24:34.6) and sophomore Patrick Flowers (44th, 24:55.2). Freshman Caden Thurman (30th, 24:31.6) scored at his second meet this season and freshman Zade Kayyali (55th, 25:16.0) contributed to Houston's point total for the first time in his career.
In the women's 5k, Patterson was the top women's finisher for Houston as she crossed the finish line at 17:56.1. Other scoring Cougars were freshman Lily Campos (41st, 18:42.7), freshman AnnClaire Cop (44th, 18:47.9), freshman Julia Shimel (49th, 18:50.2), senior Erin Rivera (50th, 18:50.2), freshman Emily Pharris (61st, 19:06.5) and freshman Grace MacDonald (66th, 19:14.1).
Sophomore Carly Ahrens scored a personal best on the women's side at 19:49.0.

Houston will conclude the regular season as it returns to College Station, Texas, on Friday, Oct. 18, for the Arturo Barrios Invitational.
The men will open the day with the 8k at 8:30 a.m., followed by the women's 6k at 9:15 a.m.
