University of Houston football stadium gets Trill for the 2024 season
HOUSTON – Bun B and partners are opening the first location of their next Houston-based fast casual concept, Trill Tenders, along with Trill Burgers at TDECU Stadium at the University of Houston. Located in the concession area of the 40,000-seat stadium at Section 138, near the student entrance at ICON Gate 2, Trill Tenders and Trill Burgers will be available at Houston home football games this fall. The season kicks off on Saturday, Aug. 31, at 6 p.m. against UNLV. Gates open 90 minutes prior to kickoff.
Trill Burgers and Trill Tenders have a co-branded concession stand – marked by Trill's signature yellow-and-black colors – in the student section end zone. Fans will be able to purchase an OG Burger Combo (Trill OG Burger and french fries) or Trill Tenders Combo (three Trill Tenders with Soy OG and Pink OG dipping sauces and Cajun cut crinkle fries). Each combo will be served in special Scarlet Red UH-branded Trill Burgers and Trill Tenders packaging.
"We've been looking for the perfect spot to open the first location of Trill Tenders, and when the opportunity at TDECU Stadium presented itself, we jumped at the chance," Bun B said. "My wife Queenie is from Third Ward, and we're thrilled to bring Trill Tenders and Trill Burgers to Cougar fans as they embark on a new era under coach Willie Fritz. Go Coogs!"
The Trill team created Trill Tenders after being invited to compete in Los Angeles' Tenderfest, the world's largest celebration of chicken tenders, in October 2023. Led by chefs Mike Pham and Fernando Valladares, the team won the event against top Hollywood chefs. Trill Tenders made its Houston debut at the Houston Texans' Taste of the Texans charity event in November and hosted a successful pop-up at NRG Stadium before a Texans home game in December.
This is Trill Burgers' third stadium location. The award-winning smashburger concept – which was named "Best Burger in America" by Good Morning America in 2022 – also has six stands inside NRG Stadium, home of the Houston Texans and Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, and a booth at Shell Energy Stadium, home of the Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash.
