Cougar becomes first Houston student-athlete to wrap up participation at 2024 Olympics
PARIS – University of Houston Swimming & Diving student-athlete Elizabeth Jimenez finished 33rd overall in the prelims of the 100-meter backstroke at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris on Monday.Â

Jimenez, competing for the Dominican Republic, touched the wall in 1:04.99 at Paris La Defense Arena.Â

Houston had seven current or former student-athletes selected to represent their respective countries as an athlete or coach at the Olympics. Swimming & Diving's Alondra Ortiz is next up for the Cougars, competing in the 200-meter Butterfly preliminary heats on Wednesday.Â
