Mouton Earns Qualification to U20 World Championships

Michaela Mouton places second in 400-meter at USATF U20 Championships Thursday
EUGENE, Ore. – University of Houston Track and Field freshman Michaela Mouton will compete for Team USA at the 2024 World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima, Peru, Aug. 27-31, with her qualification in the 400-meter on Thursday at the USATF U20 Championships at Hayward Field.

Mouton wrapped up action at the two-day event with a second-place finish in the 400-meter final with her time of 52.88 to secure an automatic spot for Team USA. The freshman entered the final with a time of 51.77, her sixth sub-52 second run of the season.

The Killeen, Texas, native claimed Second Team All-America honors in the 400-meter a week ago at the NCAA Championships with a time of 51.50. Mouton also ran the anchor leg of the 4x400-meter relay, which picked up First Team All-America honors with its fifth-place time of 3:24.73.
