
Houston Women’s Golf Finishes Play at The Show

Junior Hyeonji Kang leads Cougars at 218 to tie for 14th at Spanish Trail Country Club
LAS VEGAS – The University of Houston Women's Golf program posted a two-day total of 895 to finish eighth at The Show on Tuesday afternoon.
Competing on the 6,537-yard, par-72 course at Spanish Trail Country Club, the Cougars finished with a total of 304 in the Final Round.
Junior Hyeonji Kang recorded a 54-hole total of 218 to tie for 14th and lead the Cougars. Sophomore Alexa Saldana enjoyed Houston's low round of the day with a 73 and tied for 31st while freshman Maelynn Kim tied for 41st at 226.
Senior Nicole Abelar tied for 57th at 231 while sophomore Moa Svedenskiold finish 76th at 152.
UCLA and SMU shared the team championship at 6-under 858 to finish 13 shots ahead of Virginia. Purdue (876), Pepperdine (876), TCU (882) and New Mexico (882) completed the Top Seven with Minnesota (897) and UNLV (900) rounding out the Top 10.
UCLA's Zoe Campos earned medalist honors at 7-under 209 to finish three shots ahead of Rebecca Skoler (Virginia), Lauren Leigh (New Mexico), Lois Lau (TCU) and Jeneath Wong (Pepperdine).

Following The Show, Houston continues its western road swing when it competes at the MountainView Collegiate, set for March 15-16 at MountainView Country Club in Tucson, Ariz.
From there, the Cougars return to the Lone Star state to compete in their final regular-season event at the Big 12 Match-Play Tournament at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla., on April 8-10, 2024.
