Junior fires rounds of 65-66 to hold two shot lead entering Tuesday’s Final Round
LOS CABOS, Mexico – University of Houston junior Jacob Borow fired rounds of 66-65 to hold the individual lead of the HCU Colin Montgomerie Invitational at 13-under 131 at Sweetwater Country Club on Monday evening.
Borow began his day with back-to-back birdies at Nos. 14-15. After a bogey on No. 18, the Lake Jackson, Texas, native, rebounded with an eagle-3 at No. 2 and followed with another birdie at No. 3.
Following his final bogey of the round at No. 9, Borow closed the First Round with three straight birdies and a par.
In the afternoon session, Borow ran into trouble early with a bogey-5 at No. 15 but quickly rebounded. He made birdie at No. 1 to return to even par and moved into red numbers for the rest of the day with an eagle on the par-5 second hole.
Borow then drained birdies on three of his next four holes at Nos. 3-6 and added back-to-back birdies on Nos. 10-11 to finish with a 65 and hold a two-stroke lead over Southeastern Louisiana's Griffin Door.
Both rounds bested his previous 18-hole low of 68 in the Final Round at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational (March 29, 2022) and the Houston Classic (Feb. 8, 2022).
