Jacob Borow Leads Men’s Golf Individuals in Final Round

Junior ties for eighth at Houston Classic in one of two Greater Houston-area tournaments this week
MONTGOMERY & HUMBLE, Texas – University of Houston junior Jacob Borow tied for eighth to lead the Cougars at the Houston Classic, and freshman Grant Doggett and Chi Chun Chen finished among the Top-20 leaders at the Bentwater Intercollegiate in a pair of recently additions to the program's spring schedule.
HOUSTON CLASSIC
Borow posted his low round of the tournament with an even-par 72 in Tuesday's Final Round and tied for eighth at 221 on the 6,945-yard, par-72 course at Golf Club of Houston.
Hudson Weibel enjoyed the Cougars' low round of the tournament with a 68 in the Final Round and surged into a tie for 14th with fellow sophomore Bryant Hiskey II.
Starting his day off No. 17, Weibel moved into red numbers on his first hole of the day. However, a pair of bogeys at No. 3 and No. 6 left him 1-over through 10 holes.
Fortunately, the Dallas native ended his tournament on an amazing run with six straight birdies beginning at No. 9 and ending on the 175-yard, par-3 14th hole.
Junior Drew Murdock tied for 35th at 231.
Midwestern State's Seth Bearden earned medalist honors with a score of 212 to finish four shots ahead of Central Oklahoma's Jordan Wilson.
BENTWATER INTERCOLLEGIATE
Freshmen Grant Doggett and Chi Chun Chen finished among the Top-20 leaders to lead three Houston student-athletes on the Miller Course at Bentwater Country Club during the Bentwater Intercollegiate.
Doggett and Chun each posted 73s during the final 18 holes with Doggett tying for 17th at 219 and Chun tying for 20th at 22 on the 6,788-yard, par-71 course.
Junior Laurenz Schiergen fired the team's low round of the day with a 72 and tied for 46th at 226.
Sam Houston's Josh German recorded a 66 in the Final Round to earn medalist honors at 206 and finish two shots ahead of Tarleton's Max Bengtsson.
UP NEXT
Following the Houston Classic and the Bentwater Intercollegiate, the Cougars open the spring season as a team when they play host to the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas on Feb. 19-20.
From there, Houston will tee off at the Cabo Collegiate at Twin Dolphin Club in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on March 3-5 before returning home to play host to the All-American Intercollegiate on March 18-19 at Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas.
