Junior cornerback Jeremiah Wilson picks off two passes, including a 41-yard return for touchdown
HOUSTON – University of Houston junior defensive back Jeremiah Wilson intercepted two passes, including one for a 41-yard touchdown return, but it would not be enough as the Cougars dropped a 20-10 decision to Big 12 Conference rival Baylor inside TDECU Stadium on Saturday night.
With the Cougars trailing 7-0 in the first quarter, Wilson stepped in front of a Sawyer Robertson pass and ran 41 yards into the end zone to tie the game at 7-7 late in the opening period.
Unfortunately, that touchdown and a 24-yard field goal from kicker Jack Martin would be the only points that Houston (4-7, 3-5 Big 12) put on the scoreboard.
Junior quarterback Zeon Chriss finished 13-of-24 for 126 yards passing. Junior wide receiver Stephon Johnson caught three passes for 54 yards, and redshirt freshman running back Re'Shaun Sanford II rushed for 37 yards to lead the Cougars.
Robertson threw for 204 yards and two touchdowns and Bryson Washington rushed for 113 yards to lead the Bears to their fifth straight win.
Robertson, who finished 15-of-23 and threw three interceptions, had touchdown passes of five yards to Michael Trigg and 23 yards to Ashtyn Hawkins in the first half as Baylor built a 17-7 halftime lead.
Hawkins caught six passes for 65 yards, and Trigg had four catches for 96 yards for Baylor (7-4, 5-3 Big 12).
