Maswanganyi Takes Silver at World University Games

Senior represents South Africa at World University Games in China
CHENGDU, China – Nearly two months after taking third in the 100-meter dash at the NCAA Championships, senior Shaun Maswanganyi took silver in the 100 at the 31st FISU World University Games in China on Wednesday.

Representing his home nation of South Africa, Maswanganyi clocked a 10.06 time in Chengdu, a city in the province of Sichuan, China. Jamaica's Kadrian Dwayne Goldson ran 10.04 seconds to claim the gold medal.

Maswanganyi is coming off the 2023 season for Houston where the sprinter finished with three All-American First Team honors (60-meter dash, 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash).

The senior will compete in the 400-meter relay for South Africa on Saturday at approximately 11 a.m. local time (10 p.m. CDT on Friday). The 400 relay final is slated for Sunday at 7:10 p.m. local time (6:10 a.m. CDT).
