Wilson’s Consistency Earns Last Conference Award

Junior wins second-straight high-hurdles race, earns first outdoor weekly honor of 2023
HOUSTON – Junior De'Vion Wilson won his second-straight 110-meter hurdles race at Houston track and field's Tom Tellez Invitational, earning his first outdoor American Athletic Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week award of the season.
Wilson, who last earned conference honors after breaking the school record in the 60-meter hurdles on January 27, won his second-straight 110 hurdles race has run 13.42 seconds or faster in three of the last four meets this season.
The junior from Austin, Texas leads the conference in the 110 hurdles and ranks sixth nationally in the event. His 13.42 second winning time from the Tom Tellez Invitational would rank seventh nationally.
Wilson will look to defend his 2022 conference title in the 110 hurdles on Sunday at the American Athletic Conference Championships in Tampa, Fla.
The Male Track Athlete of the Week award is the final weekly award of the season as the Cougars prepare for the conference championships in Tampa, Fla., Friday-Sunday.
