Nearly 100 student-athletes earn places on Dean’s List with 40 graduating in May
HOUSTON – As the University of Houston Athletics Department concludes the 2022-23 school year, the Cougars enjoyed tremendous academic success during the Spring 2023 semester.
Nearly 100 student-athletes received Dean's List honors for posting a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher with 19 earning a perfect 4.0 GPA in the spring semester. Forty (40) student-athletes received their degrees in May.
More than 400 student-athletes recorded a 2.96 semester grade-point average (GPA) during the spring, passing more than 94 percent of the nearly 5,400 hours attempted. The Cougars also raised their spring semester GPA from 2.90 in 2022 to its 2.96 mark in 2023.
SEMESTER GPA
Eleven (11) sport programs recorded a GPA of 3.0 or higher with Women's Golf's 3.77 leading the way. Men's Golf finished with a 3.26 semester to lead all men's programs.
The other 3.0 honorees included Women's Cross Country (3.74), Tennis (3.59), Swimming and Diving (3.46), Soccer (3.41), Volleyball (3.26), Softball (3.21), Men's Cross Country (3.09), Baseball (3.07) and Women's Track & Field (3.07).
CUMULATIVE GPA
For the 2022-23 school year, Women's Golf led the Athletics Department with a 3.58 cumulative GPA with Men's Cross Country's 3.34 topping the men's teams.
Other 3.0 honorees included Women's Cross Country (3.56), Swimming and Diving (3.55), Soccer (3.51), Tennis (3.50), Volleyball (3.32), Softball (3.31), Baseball (3.15), Men's Golf (3.10) and Women's Track & Field (3.09)
