Total represents second-best output in school history, most since 2015-16
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Athletics Department recorded seven perfect scores and saw 12 of 15 programs equal or surpass their previous totals as part of the 2021-22 Academic Progress Rate (APR) report which was released by the NCAA on Tuesday afternoon.

Men's Basketball, Men's Cross Country, Men's Golf, Women's Basketball, Women's Golf, Tennis and Volleyball recorded perfect 1,000 scores, marking the third straight year for Houston with five-plus perfect scores. All 15 sports exceeded the NCAA's required minimum score of 930 by 25 points.
The perfect score was Men's Cross Country's fourth consecutive while Men's Basketball matched the high mark for a third straight reporting year. Men's Golf achieved the feat for a second straight time and eighth total time since 2008-09. Baseball, Football and Men's Track and Field all exceeded their 2020-21 marks with track and field doing so by 40 points.
On the women's side, Women's Basketball's perfect score was its second in the last three reports. Women's Golf logged its second straight 1,000 score and seventh high mark since the program began competition. Soccer increased its total by an impressive 40 points. Tennis obtained a perfect score for the first time since 2016-17. Volleyball collected its second straight perfect score and fifth in the last sixth reporting years.
The APR measures eligibility, graduation and retention each term and provides a clear picture of the academic performance for each team in every sport. The Division I Committee on Academics (CoA) oversees the Academic Progress Rate as part of its responsibilities with the Academic Performance Program. The CoA sets policies and recommends legislative changes to the Division I Board of Directors which has the final say on changes in Division I.
