Cougars Return to Rice

HOUSTON – The Houston track and field team will stay in the city of Houston as the Cougars will head to Rice for its J. Fred Duckett Twilight meet on Friday.

STARTING LINE NOTES

Claire Meyer ran the third-fastest 5,000-meter run in program history, running 16:36.81 at the Mt. SAC Relays.
Sydni Townsend ran Houston's seventh-fastest 400-meter hurdles race, finishing second overall in the event at the Mt. SAC Relays.
Christyan Sampy tied his school record in the pole vault, jumping 5.55 meters at the Mt. SAC Relays. Sampy finished second among collegiate competitors.
Three Houston men and the men's 400-meter relay rank in the top 10 in the nation in their respective events.
Shaun Maswanganyi ranks second in the 100-meter dash at 10.01 seconds.
De'Vion Wilson ran 13.41 for the second time this season and ranks sixth nationally in the 110-meter hurdles. Wilson's 13.41 at the Mt. SAC Relays had 2.2 m/s wind compared to the 4.0 m/s wind he had at the Texas Relays in March.
Sampy ranks seventh nationally in the pole vault at 5.55 meters.
The Cougars' 400-meter relay ranks seventh nationally at 39.00 from the Victor Lopez Classic.
Houston won six events and had 23 personal records set the last time the Cougars competed at Rice for the Victor Lopez Classic in March.
Houston has 21 marks inside the top 48 of the NCAA West Region descending order list.
