Maswanganyi Sprints to Weekly Award

Sprinter increases conference lead in 60-meter, 200-meter dash races
HOUSTON – For the first time this season Houston track and field's Shaun Maswanganyi took home American Athletic Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors after his 60-meter and 200-meter dash performances at Arkansas' Tyson Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Â

Maswanganyi ran season-bests in the 60 and 200, finishing third overall and sixth overall, respectively. The Olympian ran 6.64 seconds in the 60 and 21.07 in the 200 which leads the conference in both events.

The junior has ranks 27th in the country in the 60. The 200-meter dash at the Tyson Invitational marked Maswanganyi's first race at that distance this season after solely running a combination of the 60, 1,600-meter relay or competing in the long jump in five different meets this season.
