Multiple Meet Records Set at Tom Tellez Invite

Senior day concluded with meet records on Saturday
HOUSTON – The Houston track and field team set a multitude of meet records at the Tom Tellez Invitational on senior day at the Carl Lewis International Complex on Friday.
The day started with the women's pole vault where senior Sarah Howe jumped 3.97 meters for second in the competition and first among college athletes. Sophomore Christyan Sampy and Antonio Ruiz followed it up by breaking the men's pole vault meet record taking first and second, respectively. Sampy cleared a 5.52-meter bar while Ruiz jumped a 5.42-meter bar.
Priscilla Adejokun added another meet record in the women's hammer throw with a 64.07 for third. Nu'uausala Tuilefano posted a first-place win in the women's shot put as well as a meet record at 16.00 meters.
Devin Vallejo continued the meet record tally with a 3:49.66 in the men's 1500 for first place while DJ Akindele grabbed third was a meet record of 13.70 in the men's 110-meter hurdles.
The meet closed as Hannah Gault, Darby Gauntt and Macie Ellis all finished with meet records and swept the podium in the women's 2000 steeplechase.
