
Track and Field secures podium finishes at Victor Lopez Classic

Meyer and Jordan recorded personal bests at respective meets
HOUSTON – The Houston track and field team came away with two podium finishes as the Victor Lopez Classic on Friday at Rice University.
Victor Lopez Classic
Claire Meyer ran her way to a first-place finish in the women's 1500 meter run finishing with a personal record of 4:44.35.
Miles Marhofer added to Houston's podium finishes with a second-place final in the men's hammer throw with a 58.90m.
Texas Relays
After qualifying for the men's 400-meter hurdles final, Quivell Jordan finished fifth overall with a 49.66 time in finals on Friday. His time was a personal best and would have been the No. 1 time in the nation before Friday's competition.
A team of Nicholas Alexander, Jordan Booker, Edward Sumler and Shaun Maswanganyi finished the 4x100-meter prelims with a time of 39.52 to qualify for finals on Saturday.
Cecilia Tamayo-Garza also qualified for finals in the women's 100-meters finishing with an 11.51 time and will compete in finals on Saturday.
UP NEXT
The track and field teams will compete on the final day of both the Texas Relays and Victor Lopez Classic.
