How the Cougars Stack Up Against the World

HOUSTON – The University of Houston Track & Field program continues to record some of the best marks in the NCAA and world.Â

As student-athletes continue to compete with hopes of both qualifying for the NCAA Championships and 2021 Olympics we're going to look at some of the student-athletes with some of the top performances for their respective countries.

NORA MONIE – MISSION, TEXAS (CAMEROON)
Nora Monie recorded an Olympic Trials qualifying mark and program record in the discus last weekend at the Drake Relays. With a toss of 58.05m (190-5), Monie now holds both the eighth-best mark by an American this season, but also moved up to eighth in the NCAA this season in the event and now holds all five of the top throws in UH history.

SHAUN MASWANGANYI – SOUTH AFRICA
Shaun Maswanganyi continues to find himself among the best in the world in the sprints and currently holds the third-fastest time by a South African this season in the 100-meter at 10.18. In the 200-meter, Maswangayi sits atop the standings with the fastest wind-legal time in the event by a South African this season at 20.31. Both of Maswanganyi's times are among the top-10 in the NCAA this season.

TRISTON GIBBONS – BRIDGETOWN, BARBADOS
Triston Gibbons holds the top mark in the Barbados this season in the Shot Put after a personal-best mark of 18.89m (61-11.75). With the throw, Gibbons is tied for 29th in the NCAA this season in the event and holds the fourth-best throw in program history.

CECILIA TAMAYO-GARZA – LEON, MEXICO
Cecilia Tamayo-Garza holds the fifth-fastest time in program history in the 200-meter after running a personal-best time of 23.16 at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. Tamayo-Garza holds the fastest time by a Mexican woman this season and holds the 25th-fastest time in the NCAA this season in the event.Â

TRISTAN EVELYN – ST. GEORGE, BARBADOS
Tristan Evelyn holds the top spot in the 100-meter this season by any Barbadian woman after clocking a time of 11.50 in the event at Texas A&M earlier this season. Evelyn is 23rd in the NCAA in the 100-meter this season.

BRIANNE BETHEL – FREEPORT, BAHAMAS
Brianne Bethel paces the UH women's sprints groups, holding the third-fastest time this season by a Bahamian woman in the 100-meter (11.59), second-fastest time in the 200-meter (23.21) and third-fastest time in the 400-meter (52.87). Bethel ranks among the top-32 in the NCAA in both the 200-meter and the 400-meter this season.

HOUSTON ATTENDANCE POLICY
Limited tickets for Houston Track & Field will now be sold on a single-game, general admission basis while supplies last. Fans are encouraged to act quickly and purchase advanced single-game tickets prior to their arrival on campus due to limited availability.

All facilities and related spring sporting events will operate at 25 percent capacity of available seating throughout the remainder of the 2021 season.
