Houston Concludes The American Cross Country Championships

Castleberry and Vallejo-Bannister pace the Cougars
HOUSTON – The University of Houston men's and women's Cross Country teams closed out the 2021 American Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday afternoon.
The women's team finished eighth in the team standings with 220 points, and the men's team finished seventh with 202 points.
On the women's side Madeline Castleberry led the Cougars with a 26th-place finish at 22:28.12. She was trailed by Zosia Bulhak in 42nd-place with a time of 22:57.76. Regan Lobodzinski finished in 52nd-place (23:20.79), followed by Claire Meyer in 57th-place at 23:36.05. Macie Ellis was right behind her in the standings at 23:39.58, as Hannah Gault took 60th-place at 23:45.51. Sondos Moursy rounded out the field for the Cougars in 71st-place at 24:25.25.
On the men's side Devin Vallejo-Bannister paced the Cougars with a 29th-place finish at 25:31.60. He was trailed by Devin Fahey in 44th-place (26:22.6) and Gabriel Armijo in 46th-place (26:29.4). Juan Olmos secured a 50th-place finish, clocking in at 26:46.50, followed by Tyler Keranen in 61st-place (28:23.3). Isaace Pearce and Trey Grant concluded the field for UH in 65th and 66th-place at 29:42.30 and 29:51.70, respectively.
HOUSTON ATTENDANCE POLICY
Due to limited seating and capacity related to COVID-19 precautions, Houston will not allow fans for the 2021 Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field season.
Fans are encouraged to watch all the Houston Track & Field home meets live on the team's Facebook Page free of charge.
