MONTGOMERY, Texas – Three University of Houston Men's Golfers completed play at the Bentwater Intercollegiate at Bentwater Yacht & Country Club on Wednesday afternoon.
Junior Marcus Wochner tied for 39th with a 54-hole score of 224 on the 6,788-yard, par-71 Miller Course to lead the Cougars. Freshmen Julio Rios-Brache and Logan Vargas tied for 59th at 231.
Sam Houston State's Chad Sewell earned medalist honors with a score of 14-under 199 to finish 11 shots ahead of Houston Baptist's Shaheen Momin. South Dakota State's Jack Tanner and Rice's Raghav Chugh tied for third at 211.
Sam Houston State captured the team championship with a score of 847 to finish 20 shots in front of Rice and Midland College. Texas State finished fourth at 869, while South Dakota State and UTSA tied for fifth at 870.
UP NEXT
Following the Bentwater Intercollegiate, the Cougars close out their fall schedule when they compete at The Williams Cup presented by Stitch Golf on Oct. 25-26 at Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, N.C.
From there, Houston will take its winter break before opening the spring season at the Border Olympics on Feb. 14-15 at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas.
