Houston Student-Athletes Earn USTFCCCA Academic Honors

Four student-athletes tabbed as All-Academic Athletes, Women’s Team All-Academic Team
HOUSTON – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its All-Academic athletes and teams for the 2020 season, highlighted by the selection of four Cougars, as well as the selection of the women's team.

On the men's side, Jordan Booker highlights the list of 452 men from 126 institutions who were selected as All-Academic athletes. Booker closed out his sophomore season with a second-place finish in the 200-meters at The American Indoor Track & Field Championships, along with a third-place finish in the 60-meters.

Taylor Bennett, Cecilia Tamayo-Garza and Naomi Taylor highlight the list of 659 women from 178 institutions to All-Academic distinction. Bennett turned in an eighth-place finish in the 200-meters at The American ITF Championships to conclude her senior season. Tamayo-Garza ran a personal-best to finished sixth in the 200-meter at The American ITF Championships. Taylor continues to be force for the Cougars, retaining her title in the 60-meter hurdles at The American Championships with a meet record and qualifying for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships for the second straight season. Taylor was also named an All-American by the USTFCCCA on May 26.

The Houston Women's Track & Field team was also selected as one of 264 programs honored for academic excellence after being tabbed as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.
