Houston Concludes Competition at the Toyota U.S. Open

Leehy, Sacha record Top-30 finishes
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Swimming & Diving program put up strong performances at the 2020 Toyota U.S. Open in San Antonio, competing Nov. 12-14 at the North East ISD Blossom Athletic Complex.

Mykenzie Leehy paced the Cougars with a pair of top-50 finishes. The senior led the Cougars with team-best finishes in two events. Leehy clocked a time of 56.27 in the 100 Free for 13th-place, followed by a time of 2:03.33 for a 23rd-place finish in the 200 LCM Freestyle.
Senior Ioanna Sacha also had a stellar weekend with a 25th-place finish in the 200 LCM Backstroke at 2:16.38. Sacha earned two more top-100 finishes in the 100 LCM Backstroke (66th; 1:05.71) and 200 LCM IM (77th, 2:21.30).
Kathryn Power paced Houston in the 100 LCM Backstroke with a 45th-place finish at 1:04.00.
The newcomers got their first taste of action as Cougars and took advantage of the tough competition. Laura Garcia Marin appeared in four events, earning a trio of top-60 finishes, highlighted by a 46th-place finish in the 800 LCM Freestyle at 9:03.87.
Abby Jackson kicked off her freshman season with a 35th-place finish in the 200 LCM Butterfly at 2:18.96, finishing 80th-overall in the 100 LCM Butterfly at 1:03.57.
UP NEXT
Houston will return to action on Nov. 20-21 when it hosts North Texas at the Campus Recreations & Wellness Center on the campus of the University of Houston.
