Akindele Named American Track Athlete of the Week

Senior clocks top-15 time nationally in 60-meter hurdles
HOUSTON – University of Houston Track & Field senior Dayo Akindele was named The American Male Track Athlete of the Week after a stellar weekend of competition at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational.
Akindele made his first appearance in a Houston uniform on Friday, advancing to the final of the men's 60-meter hurdles behind a time of 7.84. In the final, Akindele ran the fifth-fastest time in program history at 7.74 for first-place and the 11th-fastest time by a collegian this season. The time is a collegiate-best for the senior and the award marks the first weekly honor he's won at Houston.
UP NEXT
The Cougars will return to action on Jan. 24 when the team heads to Lubbock for the Texas Tech Red Raider Invitational.
