Academic Success Continues During Fall Semester

18 student-athletes recorded 4.0 GPAs
HOUSTON – Houston Athletics continually focuses on "Building Champions for Life" by preparing more than 400 student-athletes to become champions in the classroom.
That process continued during the fall semester as eight programs recorded a GPA of at least 3.0 and over 100 student-athletes earned recognition with Dean's List honors with a GPA of 3.50.
The cumulative GPA for Houston's student-athletes was a 2.93, the second-highest mark in school history following a fall semester.
Eight teams eclipsed a 3.0 mark in cumulative GPA, led by swimming and diving with a 3.52 cumulative GPA. Soccer was second with a 3.47 GPA, followed by women's golf at 3.33. Baseball led all men's programs with a 3.07 cumulative GPA.
Swimming and diving also led the way in terms of fall semester GPA, recording a 3.51 GPA, while soccer was next at 3.47. Women's golf ranked third among Houston's 17 programs at 3.28, while baseball recorded a 3.13 GPA, the best among UH's men's programs.
Men's basketball, men's golf, soccer and swimming and diving all recorded their highest fall GPAs in program history.
Soccer, swimming and diving and women's golf also recorded their highest cumulative GPAs following a fall semester.
Nineteen student-athletes recorded 4.0 GPAs during the fall semester: Kyle Porter (football), George Gardner (men's golf), Rylie Haussler (soccer), Katelyn, Bub (soccer), Madison Fulp (soccer), Olivia Lee (soccer), Brielle Maloney (soccer), Bethany Busch (softball), Jennifer Penneck (swimming & diving), Peyton Kondis (swimming & diving), Kaley Hoffman (swimming & diving), Ionna Sacha (swimming & diving), Hannah Esopenka (swimming & diving), Makayla Waller (swimming & diving), Annie Kim (women's golf), Sarah Howe (women's track & field), Sondros Moursey (women's track & field), Meredith Sorensen (women's track & field) and Jeremiah Wilson (men's track & field).
