Evelyn and Burke Finish Top-5 at NACAC

Duo post top-five finishes in 100-meter dash
QUERETARO, Mexico – Houston Track & Field sprinters Tristan Evelyn and Mario Burke closed out the opening day of the North American, Central American Championships (NACAC) with a pair of top-five finishes in the men and women's 100-meter dash.

Evelyn kicked things off for Houston, qualifying for the finals of the 100-meter after posting a fourth-place finish in the semifinal with a time of 11.57. In the final, Evelyn sprinted to fourth-place finish after shattering her collegiate best with a time of 11.40.

Burke opened the weekend with second-place finish in the semifinals of the 100-meter dash, closing out the race with a time of 10.19. It would come down to the wire in the finals of the event as three sprinters posted photo finishes with Burke clinching a third-place finish. The Houston alum was one of three competitors to clock a time of 10.01, as he closed out the day with a time of 10.010 for bronze.

Burke will return to action tomorrow for the 200-meter dash.
