HOW IT HAPPENED
After qualifying for the NCAA Championships in the 4x100-meter relay for the first time since the 2015 season, the ladies of #HTownSpeedCity did not disappoint. Naomi Taylor, Essance Sample, Samiyah Samuels and Ashley Seymour combined for a program-best 43.48 in the event to finish ninth-overall. The squad matched the fastest non-qualifying time in meet history, earning second team All-American honors in the event.
Taylor made her second appearance of the evening in the 100-meter hurdles, earning second team All-American honors after coming up just shy of her lifetime best at 13.14 to finish in 15th-place.
Seymour was on double-duty for the Cougars as well, making her second appearance of the evening in the 100-meter dash. Seymour came up just shy of her lifetime best at 11.42 to finish in 18th-place overall.
In the Cougars final event of the evening, Samuels took to the long jump pit. The junior finished 11th-overall with a leap of 20-4.5 (6.21) to take home Second Team All-America honors. The mark is an improvement from her 18th-place finish at the Outdoor Championships last season.
