HOUSTON – The 2019 Houston Football Pro Day took place Thursday with 18 Houston alums working out in front of scouts from all 32 NFL teams, looking to increase Houston's total of 178 NFL Draft picks.
The representatives from all 32 NFL teams included three general managers and three head coaches.
Romello Brooker, Roman Brown, Garrett Davis, Mason Denley, Emeke Egbule, Kinte Hatton, James Homan, Isaiah Johnson, Alexander Myres, Caden Novikoff, Ed Oliver, Austin Robinson, Raelon Singleton, Nick Watkins and Joeal Williams from the 2018 senior class, along with Derek McLemore, Marcus Oliver and Nick Thurman from the 2017 senior class, all took part in Thursday's workouts.
Eyes were on Oliver, the projected first round pick who ran Thursday after declining to do so at the NFL Combine. After weighing in at 281, the defensive lineman clocked a time of 4.73 in his lone 40-yard dash attempt before running 4.22 in the shuttle and 7.15 in the three-cone drill. Oliver's shuttle time would have ranked second among defensive linemen at the combine while his 40 time would have ranked third and his three-cone drill fourth.
Denley led the way on the bench press with 28 reps of 225 lbs. Davis led the way in both the vertical jump and broad jump with marks of 40 inches and 10 feet 11 inches, respectively, while clocking the fastest times in the three-cone drill (6.87) and the 60 shuttle (11.17). The fastest 40-year dash of the day belonged to Singleton who clocked a time of 4.51. Myres led the way in the short shuttle with a time of 4.18 while
