MESA, Ariz. – University of Houston Women's Golf senior All-American Leonie Harm fired a 68 in the Final Round at the Clover Cup to tie for first at Longbow Golf Club and earn the third individual title of her outstanding career on Sunday afternoon.
As a team, the Cougars bettered their Second-Round score by 14 shots and posted the tournament's low round of the day to finish second with a score of 892.
With a three-day score of 2-under 214, Harm tied for medalist honors with Leonie Bettel (Kentucky), Libby Winans (Oklahoma) and Jennifer Chang (USC). Freshman Hannah Screen tied with Harm for the team's low round of the day at 68 and joined USC's Amelia Garvey in a tie for fifth at 220.
Starting her day off No. 4, Harm battled through a double bogey on the par-4 6th hole and returned to even par with an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole. The Gerlingen, Germany, native drained five straight pars before making birdie on three of her next four holes, including back-to-back efforts on Nos. 17-18.
Harm added her final birdie of the day on No. 1 before closing the tournament with two straight pars. It was the third individual title of her All-American career.
Competing in her first season with the Cougars, Screen played bogey-free golf to earn her Top-10 finish. The Berkhamsted, U.K., native began her Final Round with a birdie on No. 5 and followed that with another birdie on the par-5 ninth hole.
After 10 straight pars, she birdied two of her final three holes on No. 2 and No. 4 to tie for fifth at 220.
Junior Amanda Elich tied for 11th at 223, while freshman Maria Jose Martinez tied for 19th at 225 while competing as an individual. Senior Maddy Rayner tied for 55th at 235, while senior Tatiana Pineda tied for 81st at 251.
USC captured the team title at 876 with Kentucky (894), Oklahoma (895), Mississippi State (902), Notre Dame (906), Mercer (913), Kansas State (914), Nebraska (9160 and Wisconsin (919) following the Cougars among the Top-10 leaders.
UP NEXT
Following the Clover Cup, the Cougars travel to Tucson, Ariz., to compete in the Mountainview Collegiate starting Friday at the Preserve at Saddle Brooke.
From there, the team will compete in the Bruzzy Challenge at Lantana Golf Club in Dallas on April 1-2.
